Dentures don't have to look like dentures anymore! Properly fitting dentures should give you the confidence you had with your natural smile. We have an amazing lab and Dr. Tanner has years of experience helping people get great fitting dentures held in by implants. The gold standard these days is to have your denture held in by implants so that you don't have to use the denture adhesive anymore. Additionally, with implants holding the top denture in, the part of the denture that covers the roof of your mouth can be trimmed out, enabling you to taste and feel the temperature of your food better.

You and Dr. Tanner may determine that you need a tooth pulled for any number of reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed, and cannot be saved; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. The removal of a single tooth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which can have a major impact on your dental health. To avoid these complications, in most cases, Dr. Tanner will discuss replacement of the extracted tooth.Book Appointment
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants are tiny titanium posts which are placed under the gums where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.
We are a mercury-free practice. However, many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye, and we know that by unavoidable design, silver/mercury fillings ultimately result in a weaker tooth structure. Over time, these silver fillings cause teeth to crack. If teeth show signs of cracking or actually do fracture off due to the age of the silver fillings, the tooth most likely will need a crown to strengthen the tooth so you can keep it for years to come. These restorations are esthetically pleasing and very strong thanks to new bonding technologies.

Periodontal disease is diagnosed by your dentist or dental hygienist during a periodontal examination. This type of exam should always be part of your regular dental check-up. Periodontal treatment methods depend upon the type and severity of the disease. Dr Tanner and dental hygienist will evaluate for periodontal disease and recommend the appropriate treatment. It only takes twenty four hours for plaque that is not removed from your teeth to turn into calculus (tartar)! Daily home cleaning helps control plaque and tartar formation, but those hard to reach areas will always need special attention. Oral health affects general health. Oral problems can interfere with eating, speaking, self-esteem and daily activities. Extensive decay can affect development and growth. Children experiencing tooth pain may not be able to focus on their studies at school. A healthy smile is more attractive, which positively impacts confidence. Most importantly, preventative dentistry results in less extensive and less expensive dental care. Preventative dental care begins when the first tooth erupts. Your childs first visit to the pediatric dentist should occur when the first tooth erupts or no later than 12 months of age. Early dental visits and the establishment of the "dental home" is the foundation for maintaining good oral health for a lifetime.
