Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride Treatment in Seattle, Washington

Are you looking for a way to strengthen your teeth? Fluoride treatments in Seattle, Washington are quite popular and effective at strengthening teeth and protecting them. At Seattle Sound Dental in Seattle, Washington, we’ve been providing fluoride treatments to our patients for many years. Our dentists have the training, knowledge, and experience to perform these procedures safely and effectively.

Fluoride treatments are highly recommended in children. Children are prone to dental caries because of their diet and that they don’t always understand the value of taking good care of their dental hygiene. Adults, however, are welcome to receive fluoride treatments too.

In-Office Fluoride Treatment

The amount of fluoride in these procedures is very high. While toothpaste is supplemented with fluoride, it’s not enough to be as beneficial as fluoride treatments. People might be tempted to perform these treatments at home, but this isn’t something that we can recommend at Seattle Sound Dental. While fluoride is effective at strengthening teeth and fighting decay, it can be harmful in high concentrations.

The amount of fluoride used in treatments isn’t fixed. We adjust the concentration depending on the patient’s weight. Using too much fluoride can lead to pitting and other forms of damage to teeth. A dentist has to calculate the proper dose to guarantee patient safety.

What to Expect

Patients who receive fluoride treatments will not feel anything abnormal. You might notice increased sensitivity for a few days, but it will fade away. We apply fluoride using cups that are placed over teeth and contain the fluoride. We can also use a brush. You will need to sit for several minutes to give your teeth the chance to absorb the fluoride before we remove it.

You’ll be able to go home immediately after the procedure is over. It’s painless, and you will remain comfortable. For better results, you shouldn’t eat or drink for about half an hour after the treatment. This should be enough time for your teeth to fully absorb the fluoride and benefit from it. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
